As mentioned above, digital fabric printing technology can be roughly divided into two categories, digital inkjet printing (direct digital printing onto fabric) and sublimation printing.
Digital inkjet printing
Digital inkjet printing on fabric operates similarly to an inkjet printer and involves spraying tiny droplets of ink onto fabric, carefully controlled by a digital file to create intricate, vibrant designs.
Based on digitally printed textile products, digital inkjet printing can be divided into two printing technologies: direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, which is mainly used for single-piece garments and fashions, and direct fabric printing, which is used for extensive fabric roll coverage of various textiles.
Sublimation printing
When it comes to sublimation printing on fabric, it's very different from digital inkjet printing. The method begins by printing the design onto special transfer paper using sublimation ink. The printed paper is then pressed against the fabric at high temperatures, causing the ink to turn into a gas and infuse into the fabric fibers, resulting in a vibrant, durable and detailed print, especially on polyester fabrics.
